Can be grown in hydroponics to yield 2 x Fern seeds at an early stage and 2 x Fern when fully grown.
Ferns need the following:
- Water: 5-60 Degree Celsius to avoid taking damage
- Temp: Minimum atmosphere temperature of 20C (293K) is required for growth, under 15C (288K) or over 50C (323K) the plants will die.
- Atmosphere: Minimum atmosphere pressure 7.7 kPa, with traces of CO2 (at least 0.1 mol) and under 1% Pollutant (X).
Uses
- Previously, was placed in the Reagent Processor up to 20 at a time to make 100 Fenoxitone Powder as a stack. Each fern was worth 5 powder per process.
- Now fern can be used directly as replacement for Fenoxitone Powder to make a Medical Pill in the Chemistry Station
- Fern is needed for Milk
- Ten ferns will produce 1.44 Mol of Oxygen per minute, and will consume 2.88 Mol of CO2 per minute (same as any other common plant)
- Note that the genetically engineered Darga Fern converts CO2 to O2 at a much faster rate (7 times faster) than the common Fern or other common plants
