Description[edit]
The Portable Gas Tank is used to store gasses. It has a higher volume than the Gas Canister or Gas Canister (Smart).
The "standard pressure" when spawned is defined as 8106 kPa, or 80 Earth Atmospheres. The maximum pressure for the tank is 10.132 MPa, or 100 atmospheres. Overpressurizing the tank will cause it to explode. Once the maximum pressure is reached the tank starts taking damage until it bursts. This allows the Portable Gas Tank to exceed the pressure rating temporarily.
Usage[edit]
The Portable Gas Tank can be connected/disconnected to pipe networks using a Tank Connector, by placing the tank on the connector and then interacting with it using a Wrench. It can also be connected (and disconnected) to the Rover and Lander, with one Portable Gas Tank of Oxygen normally spawning on the lander.
The front of the tank features a striped area where a Gas Canister or Gas Canister (Smart) can be inserted for refilling (equalizing the pressure in both canisters), Ices can be inserted to add their contents into the tank, and a lit Road Flare can be inserted to ignite the contents of the tank. Although many other items can also be inserted into it (with the notable exception of Liquid Canisters), Ores do not offgas into it even if the tank's contents are at a temperature high enough to allow offgassing inside a Furnace.
There is also a pressure regulator valve on the top of the tank that can be used to vent the tank to atmosphere (or into a sealed room). Note that this valve does not need to be opened when connected to a Tank Connector, but the setting of the valve remains persistent between connection and disconnection.
Notes[edit]
- If you need higher pressure (and thus higher capacity) canisters, consider using Gas Canister (Smart), which have visible display of tank pressure and a pressure capacity twice that of the standard Gas Canister.
