Description

"If a Recycler or unbalanced Furnace outputs reagent mixture rather than the desired ingots, a centrifuge allows you to reclaim the raw ore. It also refines Dirty Ore produced from the Deep Miner and Space Ore produced from the Rocket Miner. Its bigger brother Combustion Centrifuge can be used to process items significantly faster. Items processed by the centrifuge will be de-gassed. If opened while powered on, the centrifuge will enter an errored state and reduce its rpm to 0 and then export any items."
- Stationpedia

Takes Reagent Mix created in the Recycler or Furnace through its input and raw ores come out of the output.

To complete construction you will need 2 Steel Sheets with a Wrench and 2 more Steel Sheets with a Welder tool.

Note

  • Even by passing by the Centrifuge, some ore cannot be separated from the Reagent Mix. For example, Steel will exit the centrifuge as reagent mix. You will then need to put it in the Furnace and re-smelt it to obtain steel. This also applies for all the other alloys and advanced alloys.
  • Items processed by the Centrifuge will be degassed, hence no gas will be emitted when ore is smelted. This includes Coal, especially when extracted from Dirty Ore, which won't produce any Carbon Dioxide, e.g. when used in the Solid Fuel Generator.

Data Network Properties

These are all Data Network properties of this device.

Data Parameters

These are all parameters that can be written with a Logic Writer, Batch Writer, or Integrated Circuit (IC10).

Parameter Name Data Type Description
On Boolean Turns the Centrifuge on, when set to 1. Turns it off, when set to 0.
Open Boolean Opens the Centrifuge, when set to 1. Close it, when set to 0.

Data Outputs

These are all parameters, that can be read with a Logic Reader or a Slot Reader. The outputs are listed in the order a Logic Reader's "VAR" setting cycles through them.

Type Output Name Data Type Description
Logic Power Boolean Returns whether the Centrifuge is turned on and receiving power. (0 for no, 1 for yes)
Logic Error Boolean Returns whether the Centrifuge is flashing an error. (0 for no, 1 for yes)
Logic Reagents Double Total Number of reagents recorded by the device. Max reagent capacity is 400, at which time centrifuge will spin down and flash an error. IC/Logic required for automation, otherwise manual operation.
Logic On Boolean Returns whether the Centrifuge is on. (0 for no, 1 for yes)
Logic ImportCount Integer The amount of items imported since last ClearMemory
Logic ExportCount Integer The amount of items exportet since last ClearMemory
Logic RequiredPower Integer Returns the current amount of power, required by the Centrifuge, in watts.
Logic ClearMemory Integer If set to 1 clears the Data for ImportCount and ExportCount.
Slot Occupied Integer returns 0 when slot is not occupied, 1 when it is
Slot OccupantHash Integer hash of the type of thing in the slot
Slot Quantity Integer stack size of thing in the slot
Slot Damage Integer damage state of item in the slot
Slot Class Integer class of object in slot
Slot MaxQuantity Integer max stack size of item type in slot
Slot PrefabHash Integer hash of the structure in the slot
Slot SortingClass Integer
Slot ReferenceId Integer unique reference identifier for this object

Usage

The Centrifuge initially takes one item from the input. It then spins until all the contents have been separated, internally, before opening the input to accept another item, without stopping the spin or outputting anything. It will continue to consume and spin items until it is interrupted or the reagent inside it reaches a limit of 400. It then will enter an "error" state until it is emptied.

Based on basic testing, the Centrifuge processes approximately 1 dirty ore every 18.6 seconds.

If the Centrifuge is spinning, pulling the lever will cause the machine to enter an "error" state, spin down, and eventually emit any separated ores. Any unprocessed reagents are retained inside the machine, and the separation process will resume when the lever is pushed back in.

When the separated ores are emitted, they all come together in a steady stream from the same output; you may want to consider using Chutes, Sorters, Stackers, and either Silos or a Vending Machine to manage the output.
