Description[edit]
Ingot (Steel) is a metal alloy. It is used in crafting of various machines and items. It's also the only metal alloy ingot type used in crafting super alloys while the other ingredients are only ores.
Steel effectively operates as a stronger and more efficient substitute to pure Iron for all more advanced and large-scale items, tools, building kits and machines. Because of that, it is recommended to stock up on a large amount of Steel as soon as the operational Furnace is deployed.
Obtaining[edit]
It is created by smelting a ratio of 3 Iron Ore to 1 Coal or 1 Charcoal in a Furnace. The only specific feature of the process, is that Steel requires higher temperature to smelt compared to most other metals, on the same level as Silicon.
Early Game Access to Steel[edit]
Ice (Oxite) and Ice (Volatiles) can be manually input directly in the furnace in order to create crude gas mixtures necessary for smelting this ingot. To achieve high enough temperatures for smelting it is recommended to use the stoichiometric ratio of 1 Ice (Oxite) to 2 Ice (Volatiles).
If on a hot planet such as Venus you can off gas 44 Cobalt and 110 Gold into the furnace while ejecting the ores after off gassing and ignite to reach the required temperature and pressure.
