The Access Controller Cartridge is a tablet cartridge that allows you to lock certain appliances and block usage to anyone who isn't holding the specified Access Card. A Security Printer can be used to print the Access Controller Cartrige and colored Access Cards.

With tablet powered on and in hand, aim it at the device. The right side of the tablet displays the colors that are authorized for the device. All other colors are not authorized. Only users with a matching colored access card will then be able to use the device. If multiple colors are authorized, only one of them needs to match. The left side of the tablet is used to select a color. Holding left mouse button will toggle that color in the list of authorized colors.

Here is an incomplete list of devices that can be affected by an Access Controller. Note: Access Controller will never prevent deconstruction, which also clears access controls. So a device that is deconstructed and reconstructed will be usable by anyone.

  • Printers (Autolathe, Hydraulic Pipe Bender, Electronics Printer, Tool Manufactory, and Security Printer; along with their Mk2 versions.))
    • Prevents operation of all buttons, switches, and levers.
    • Prevents manual insertion of resources.
  • Crates, Lockers, and Shelves
    • Prevents opening or closing of the lid.
    • Prevents insertion or removal of items.
    • Does not prevent attaching or detaching from a crate mount.
  • Doors
    • Prevents operation of control panel.
    • Does not prevent manual operation of door while door is unpowered.
    • Does not prevent operation of door from an external console. If console prevents manual operation, then an access card will not override this setting.
    • This combination of effects means that access control has no practical use with Internal Doors or the Blast Door since they do not have a control panel.
  • Area Power Controllers
    • Prevents toggle of power switch and removal of battery. Does not prevent opening or closing the cover.
  • Light (including Grow Light)
    • Does not prevent manual operation of light.
    • Does prevent insertion or removal of battery from Wall Light (Battery).
  • Station Battery
    • Prevents toggle of power switch.
  • Logic Switch
    • Prevents interaction with all dials, levers, buttons, and the cover to the Important Button.
    • Does not prevent adjustment of the Increase and Decrease adjustment screws for the Dial.
  • Small Fridge
    • Prevents operation of door.
    • Prevents insertion and removal of items.
    • Note that the Large Fridge cannot be targeted by the Access Controller. (Bug: STAT-3063)
  • OGRE
    • Prevents operation of all switches and buttons.
  • Automated Hydroponics
    • Prevents operation of all switches and buttons.
    • Prevents manual insertion of items.
  • Ice Crusher
    • Prevents operation of power switch.
    • Prevents manual insertion of items.
