Linking to new, useful pages
Hi
I made a list of all Craftable items but where to put the link to it?
On the Main Page or in the Beginner's Guide?
--LordJakson (talk) 03:12, 1 February 2018 (CST)
Hi
My vote is for the Main Page. A non-beginner who may have forgotten
something and came to the wiki for help may not think to look at the
Beginner's Guide.
Main page, or both even should be fine. The wiki is largely self-organising, so people can put stuff where they see fits. If it turns out to be a mess, we'll find a way. No point in over-organising before we know what information we want/have. --Sunspots (talk) 08:31, 1 February 2018 (CST)
Help with the translation
Hi
Can I help translating the wiki to Spanish?
--User:alfa5 (talk) 16:02, 8 March 2018 (CET)
Of course! The wiki is open for everyone. -- Sunspots (talk) 09:33, 12 March 2018 (CDT)
But I don't have enough permission for translate things. Seen that I need be in the "translator" group for that. --User:alfa5 (talk) 12:16, 16 March 2018 (CET)
French translation
Hi,
I want to help for french translation.
May I have the permission for joining the translator group ? NoNoNeo (talk) 12:59, 15 October 2018 (CDT)
- Hey! Great to see that you're interested in contributing! Unfortunately, I don't have the rights to change any groups, it is only available to users with the Bureaucrat role. Otherwise, check with Eeasrlya if you can't get a hold of them. --Sunspots (talk) 09:10, 16 October 2018 (CDT)
German translation
Hi,
I want to help for german translation.
May I have the permission for joining the translator group ? Adi2412 (talk) 07:53, 16 October 2018 (CDT)
- Hey, that's great! Check the answer to the same question above though. I can't do much about it at this point. --Sunspots (talk) 09:10, 16 October 2018 (CDT)
Permissions and funky caching
rights issues with cleanup:
Clear pattern there.
File:ItemWallLight.png WTH is going on with the caching there -- Unsigned by Neouni (talk) 23 June 2018
I don't really get the translation system tbh, it seems to give us these artifacts. What's the problem with File:ItemWallLight.png, could you elaborate? Sunspots (talk) 13:28, 24 June 2018 (CDT)
- Uploaded a new version,
image doesn't update,
upload it again system said it's a match to the one already there,
force upload anyway and now the old image updates
and it still shows the original image, so caching error
can't revert to my old upload either that did magically fix itself because it's identical according to the database.
Something betweendatabase > cache > shown page
is messing up. Neouni (talk)
Wiki article separation and redirects
Hi, currently there is a bit of chaos going on as to under which name an article about a Structure or Item should go and whether articles about Items and Structures should be merged or not.
(And if merged, which one should be the actual article and which one should be a redirect.)
Until recently, I would have said, that merging articles about Kits/Items with the ones about Structures might be the way to go.
But this approach becomes less and less ideal, when you have Kits, that can create multiple Structures. For example the Atmospherics.
For that reason, I would actually suggest to split up the articles, so that we have one for the Kit/Item and one per Structure variant.
This will also lead to less redirects. But it also requires, that there are obvious references between the associated Structures and Kits. It might even be best to put that in the ItemBox and StructureBox macros. Tell me what you think.

This is an issue, I know. I believe that people will want the information about both parts almost every time, so splitting it up would be somewhat counterproductive. From a sorting and structure standpoint, separation is great though, because then things will get much more nice and tidy.
The game has largely been fluctuating between the two approaches, which is one of the reasons I haven't really wanted to take a stand for one side or the other before.
In the end though, I think that we should probably split them up, but make it more clear what an item builds, maybe in the item box, or more clearly with something new.

Contributing Guide
This comes right along with my previous question.
Should we have some Starter's Guide for the wiki, similar to how most modern git repos have a CONTRIBUTING file these days?
It would outline basic things on how to organize this wiki, how to create new articles, what goes where in an article, etc.
What do you think?
F1r3w4rr10r (talk) 07:37, 1 July 2018 (CDT)
This is definitely something I've wanted to look at. There are a couple of things I'd like to argue for/against, I just don't want to hop in and change everything around without having a somewhat democratic decision about it.
I created a page a while back which I wanted to draft some ideas on, and use the talk page to discuss format and style: Unofficial_Stationeers_Wiki:Style_guide. We could start drafting some stuff on there, but we should probably try to include our motivations, either as part of the guide or on the talk page. I think it's worth looking at Wikipedia MoS, Minecraft Wiki Style guide. -- Unsigned by Sunspots (talk) ~16:14, 1 July 2018 (CDT)
Spam articles being made
I thought I should ask here about it being possible to do something about the spam articles that currently have been spawned in the "Recent changes" log. Eleftherios (talk) 1699920498 Unix time (2023-11-14T00:08:49+00:00 | RFC 3339)
