Description[edit]

Iron Frames are one of the basic building blocks for creating a station. Iron Frames are built in three stages, or Build States:

  1. Everything can move through the center of the frame
  2. Gasses can move through frame
  3. Completely solid

Please note: It's highly advisable to switch to Steel Frames as soon as possible, because they require less than half the amount of iron.

Solid Iron Frame box: 4+1+1 iron. Solid Steel Frame box: 2+0.5+0.5 iron, but in the form of Steel, which only needs 0.75 iron for 1 steel.

150 iron ore + 50 coal = 200 steel = ~66 solid steel frame boxes. 200 iron = ~33 solid iron frame boxes, but 150 iron would only get you 25 boxes. So, ignoring the coal, the Steel Frame yield is 2.6... times better than the Iron Frame yield.

Use[edit]

To place right-click with Iron Frames in hand and place in desired spot.

To construct use a Welder in active hand and have Iron Sheets in the inactive hand. Turn welder on (press 'O' key) and weld at the edge of frame. Each stage takes one Iron Sheet for a total of two iron sheets.
